Finally finished the first draft of the novel. Going to sleep for a week.
Chrome extension for X
How many posts a day is too many?
Bot Meter puts each account's average posts per day right next to its name in your X feed. A person posts a few times a day. An account that has averaged 400 a day since it was created is almost certainly a bot.

Where accounts land
Posts per day on a log scale. Most people sit far to the left. The colors are the same ones the badge uses, and you can move both cut-offs in the settings.
X counts replies and reposts as posts, so some very active real people reach 50–100 a day. Treat amber as "look closer", not "bot".
How it works
No API key, no login, and no requests of its own. It reads what X has already loaded.
-
Reads what's already there
X sends each author's post count and account ID to your browser along with every post. Bot Meter reads them as they arrive.
-
Works out the account's age
Account IDs since 2016 carry their creation time, so the join date is exact. Older accounts are estimated to within a few months, marked with ≈.
-
Badges every author
A badge appears next to each
@handlein your timeline, replies, quotes, search and profiles. Hover it for the details.
Your feed, your rules
Label, dim or collapse
Decide what happens to posts from likely bots: just a red badge, faded out, or folded away behind a "Show" button.
Set your own thresholds
"High rate" starts at 50 a day and "likely bot" at 150 by default. Change either number in the popup.
Quiet mode
Only want to hear about the suspicious ones? Turn off badges for normal accounts and only high-rate accounts get marked.
Pick what gets checked
Switch replies, reposts and quoted posts on or off. Anything switched off gets no badge and is never dimmed.
Numbers you can picture
An average in whole numbers: 3/day. Quiet accounts show 2/week or 3/month instead of a fraction.
Private by design
Nothing is collected, stored or sent anywhere. Only your settings are saved. Read the privacy policy.
Questions
Is a high number proof that an account is a bot?
No. It's a strong signal, not a verdict. News outlets, live-tweeters and people who reply a lot can legitimately post 50–100 times a day. Accounts averaging hundreds a day for months are a different story.
Does it need my X login or an API key?
No. It works with the X page you already have open and never touches your account, messages or password.
Does it slow X down or use data?
No. It makes no network requests; it only reads numbers X has already sent to your browser and adds small badges.
Why is an older account's join date marked ≈?
X doesn't include join dates with posts. For accounts created before 2016, the date is estimated from the account ID and is accurate to within a few months. Newer accounts get an exact date.
Which browsers does it work in?
Chrome, Brave and other Chromium browsers, on x.com.
